Safeway scaffolding is our overall most popular style of frame. The pins are what connect the scaffolding frames together vertically and cross braces connect the scaffolding together horizontally. The biggest differences between the three different styles are the leg diameters (meaning they take different size pins), pin hole locations (meaning the location of the pin holes are at different angles in relation to the horizontal axis of the scaffolding frame), and styles of cross brace locks. One of the biggest determining factors in choosing your frame style is whether it will match your existing scaffolding. Because of this, you should be hesitant to use a scaffolding style that is not one of these styles. ![]() All if these styles have been in use for many decades so their design and functionality is tried and true. The Safeway Style is interchangeable with Safeway frames, the Waco Style is interchangeable with Waco frames and the Bil-Jax Style is interchangeable with Bill Jax frames. These are the industry standard styles of scaffold frame in the United States. We carry three different styles of frames: Safway Scaffolding match frames (Blue), Waco Scaffolding match frames (Red), and Big-Jax Scaffolding match frames (Yellow). The styles are important if you have existing scaffolding that you need to match, otherwise, each style has a version that will meet your specific project needs. For instance, each different style of frame has a walk-through version that is good for masonry projects, however, a Safeway scaffolding frame will not stack on top of a Waco style frame. There are several frame styles that became popular in the United States of the last half-century or so – each style was made by a different manufacturer and had slightly different dimensions and specifications so that they can all be used to perform a specific job but they are not interchangeable with each other. Styles of Scaffold Framesįrame style refers to the original frame design and manufacturer. This is a guide to help you choose which scaffold frame will work best for you. This allows for the unimpeded walkway of a walkthrough frame with good climbability with no external attachments.Scaffold frames come in many types and sizes, each are designed to meet a need and make a specific type of work more efficient. Built like the walkthrough frame, a ladder is added in one of the frames top corners extending below halfway down the frame. This is the do-it-all scaffolding frame, it is a hybrid of the walkthrough frame and the ladder frame. Because there are no ladder rungs, however, these frames must be used in accompaniment with some sort of alternate climbing device this could be our bolt-on external ladders, internal stair cases, or some other legal method. This scaffolding is a favorite of brick masons, and it’s benefits include the unimpeded work area they enjoy so much. When a platform is built underneath these frames along several sections of scaffolding, an unimpeded walkway is formed because of the archway construction. These scaffold frames are constructed in the form of a rectangular archway. Walkthrough ScaffoldingĪs the name implies, walkthrough scaffolding is built to be able to walk through. Although these scaffold frames have great climbability and are the best all-purpose frames, the impediment of having to step over their bottom rungs can be a reason someone might use the following frame on a larger job. This area can be stepped through at height when navigating between sections. ![]() One vertical half of these frames consists of a ladder-rung pattern, while the other half is mostly open space, none except the lowest rungs which extend all the way across the frame, as opposed to just half way.
